Alternating Bed Systems

Also referred to as alternating drainfield. An absorption system designed with a backup absorption field for use while the primary absorption field rests. Wastewater is directed to one field or the other via a manually operated diverter valve located in the line from the septic tank. Septic systems that have failed might be retro fitted with a backup absorption field, allowing the primary field to rest and recover through biological activity. <
