Centralized Wastewater Treatment
Centralized wastewater treatment relies on a network of collection pipes (sewers) leading from all homes and businesses to a central wastewater treatment facility. Urban and suburban areas with high population densities (more than three to four dwellings per acre) are typically served by centralized wastewater collection and treatment, whereas onsite wastewater treatment systems are more practical and cost-effective for more sparsely populated, rural communities. <
