Lagoon System
Also referred to as aerated lagoons, anaerobic lagoons, and facultative lagoons. One or more pond-like bodies of water or basins designed to receive, hold and treat wastewater for a predetermined period of time. Lagoons are constructed and lined with material, such as clay or an artificial liner, which prevent seepage to the groundwater below. Wastewater receives treatment through a combination of physical, biological, chemical and sometimes mechanical processes. There are numerous types of lagoon systems. <
