Typically a concrete, fiberglass or plastic box between the septic tank and drainfield whose purpose is to disperse effluent evenly across the drainfield. The Distribution Box (D Box) typically has a single inlet (from the septic tank) and several outlets that lead to individual drainfield trenches; baffles are used to reduce wastewater velocity. <
